I tried using a 1000 rpm only tractor on an 540 auger, and the auger kept shearing the shear bolts. Don't know what the deal was, I think it just engaged the pto way too fast, but I didn't have time to mess with it, so just used another tractor.
540 implements on 1000 rpm pto only tractors.
