Alberta, Canada | I have had one for 13 years now. 7.5 hp with 10 hp mill. 5 hp might have been big enough but I used drill stem (2 3/8") from the oil patch as blowpipe so a little extra volume there.
Biggest plus is the flexibility to run to bins. Haven't spent a dime on it other than the hose to transfer to different blowpipes and elbows on the pipes eventually will wear thru. The first hose was sandblasting hose and ridiculously expensive. Now I just use suction hose hose and replace a little more often.
Completely trouble free but NEVER bury any blowpipe in the ground (to cross driveway for example) bc water WILL get inside and that will plug it up.
I bought mine from Stirdon Equpment, but would not recommend them as that outfit has gone downhill fast.
At the time it seemed expensive for what you get but no trouble whatsoever is priceless.
