Any hydraulic chute can use a tractor or pickup with an engine driven hyd pump for a power source.
The only down side I can think of is listening to the engine for a few hours, make a long set of hoses to get some distance between it and where your working and it isn't a big deal.

The good - no killing yourself pulling on leavers all day.
Hydraulic chutes are generally heaver so they stay put (big cows cann't bounce them around).
In my opinion they are less stressful on the animal and operator.
what brand do you run? I'd love to have a portable one.

My cousin bought a Daniels Manufacturing portable and it seems like a nice chute.
