Subject: Feeder Calves

West Central IL
Just curious what weight range you guys would buy feeders in at today's current prices?

I have always bought 550 to 700 lbs and put them on pasture and feed corn to market weight. Just thinking if it would be more feasible to buy at lower weight range 350 to 450 and put on grass for 120 days or so and then selling or keep these calves and sell at market weight? Have always kept them over winter but was thinking about selling this group towards late fall and then buying back then with heavier weight feeders 600 lbs and feeding them to market weight.

I know it may not seem like much sense just trying to get something in pasture to eat down grass that has good height and needs something eating it. Have also thought about buying middle aged bred cows that will calf late summer/fall.
