Subject: RE:Speaking of which, next year's fed cattle price?

Saronville NE
Even where those 750s are priced now won't pencil Jake. I haven't been buying much of anything they don't pencil , last 2 pens have lost money going out, and next 2 will for sure if last 2 did cause BE was higher on them then 1st 2 pens did.

Local barn auctioneer chewed out buyers 2 weeks ago said need to be buying and no reason should he be selling steers for heifer price from the big barn, problem is that where they need to be to make any money. Them light say 450-550 lb cattle will bring within 50 a head of 750-800, you can't put on 200-300 lbs for 50 bucks.

You can't protect yrself right now either with puts or hedges as tight as margins are anyways. And just like the last 1.5 yrs if naked better chance to make money as big as spread is between board and cash but one these days that will mean a 300-500 a HD loss but when is the million $$$ question.

Kookier it will change but you been crying this same song for almost a yr now. I'm not disagreement that it won't change. But cattle are whole different game then hogs presently.
