My dad bought a lot across the street from the original house (and shop/barns) and built his house. When I came home I lived in the original house for 6 years while I saved $. I then bought the adjoining farm and built a house over there. It is all one farm now as we have pushed out fences etc. It is nice to be secluded and not have equipment and stuff all around. However, I miss being close to tools and able to pop out to do small jobs. I am unsure how hard it will be to keep an eye on everything when mom and dad aren't able to any longer...maybe by then we will have some sort of fancy alarm.
