This was probably the year to leave the seed in the bag, fertilizer unbought and just taken a job off the farm to pay the minimum expenses. Unless something extreme happens in July we're not going to be worrying about just the lack of profit but substantial losses in real equity. The market will punish farmers for planting corn & soybeans like they haven't in thirty years. The futures speculators are going to teach us farmers the meaning of the words "Fear & Greed", our fear and their greed.

Good Lord put down the crack pipe and quit claiming that. A job in town will almost cover the land payments, machinery payments, land rent etc, plus cost of living......NOT. Either you're in this game to farm and produce or you're not. You don't stop producing when things get tough unless you are planning for the sale. Cut out any frills, snake oil, and don't spend any excess, but you surely don't park the machinery thinking that's going to fix it.

You been laying that line out here all spring and I'm sick of it. You obviously aren't a producer.

Boo hoo, Chad. Acres need reduced one way or the other, until that happens the market will be very painful. This years prices will look food come next spring.
