Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I use to see it happen. Not so much in the past 2 or 3 elections. They also used to approve some adhoc disaster or other farm revenue programs around election time. I think they have decided the farm vote just doesn't mean much any more.
I think the theory had some merit. Pour money into farmers hands, the farmer spends it which benefitted the wage earner and etc. It's always been said money turns over 7 times after the farmer spends it. It was a feel good measure that at one time probably worked. |
