| My wife is a Nurse Practitioner (basically same level of provider as a PA with a Nursing background first) and sees far more patients who prejudice her for not being an MD than seeing someone's husband in an exam room...Needless to say, I would talk through it with your wife and find out why she was uncomfortable, there's nothing wrong with her staying in the room next time and the provider shouldn't complain about it.
As my MIL says(she's and RN of 35 years) "once you've seen one you've seen 'em all". My point is that any professional provider is looking at your body from a purely medical standpoint, and isn't looking at it in a sexual way. I am sure there are some on the other side of that fence too, but in my experience they are a very small minority. | |
