Subject: RE: WOW you guys got some expensive schools

Washington Co Ks
School sure has gotten expensive. I always said that something seemed wrong about saying that your kids have to go to school and then they nickel and dime the parents to death. When our kids were little we had four in grade school at the same time and even at that age it seemed that we were constantly being ask to come up with money. Sometimes it was only a couple of dollars a kid but that adds up when you are young and just getting started on the farm. One year one mother of other kids in school came up with a half a dozen or more people connected to the school to buy Christmas gifts for. It seemed like every day our kids would bring home a note for us to send $5 with each kid for a gift. We were really struggling that year and we had to do without some things that we wanted to do for our kids in order to come up with the money. If some of the kids don't participate in such things they get made fun of and called names. Some parents must have complained that year because the next year the kids came home with a note saying no gifts. I imagine that some of this stuff is part of the reason for more and more home schooling.
