OK Panhandle | Ayrmesh is just repackaged Ubiquiti equipment - at an exorbitant price. Ayrmesh bridge kit: $450. Getting the same two Ubiquiti radios at Amazon: $100. I understand that Ayrmesh is providing support and other services, so I am not criticizing anyone's decision to use them. It may make sense if there is no local support or expertise for one to lean on. However, I personally can't justify spending that much more for the same equipment.
As to your local place specing a receiver at every AP, I understand their logic. When APs are wirelessly daisy-chained (Ubiquiti calls this "wireless uplink"), there are huge reductions in bandwidth capacity at each subsequent AP. If you're just monitoring a weather station, that might be OK. If you're wanting to stream HD video, it probably won't work like you want. By building a backbone network to link all the APs, you can make the capacity you'd otherwise lose with wireless uplink available to clients. | |
