at this stage of the game, anything but a big weather issue doesn't have much of an effect on the mix of remaining crops to plant
for reference, go back to the fall of 2003 when several major Iowa counties had sub 30 BPA bean crops due to aphids, and all that was heard on the phone was how they weren't going to plant beans in 2004.....then, look at the NASS data for corn/bean acres in Iowa in '04.....quite a different story...
net/net----a lot of talk, but not quite as much action watching the news reports of plummeting Monsanto stock and closures of pioneer corn facilities is telling me that maybe it wasn't just talk this year. But we shall see. |
