You provided my rebuttal in your post... Deficit spending is the problem b/c we have finite resources and infinite wants/needs/desires. Every group has a valid reason and set of circumstances that show that XXXX spending will provide YYYYYYY benefit. Which evaluated at a micro level might be accurate. Taken as a whole though, it turns out not to be, because maybe that XXXX spending is actually a detriment to another industry or segment of the population, so at best it becomes a wash. But it introduces more friction into the economy. Deficits in extraordinary circumstances can be fine, but not as an ordinary course of business, which it has become. And keeps pushing towards a more centralized planning economy because they have no restraints on the growth of what they can do. They simply run up a higher deficit (which is simply taking from the popultion, just in the future) and introduce another program to expand their control/influence. If they couldn't spend more than they have, they wouldn't be able to do that.
