| There's always risk in making assumptions, but that's not a completely crazy idea. The problem wasn't deficit spending, it was deficit spending without a defined purpose. You can't do it all the time and you have to have a reason to start and stop and then follow it. One of government's greatest characteristics is also it's biggest problem: turnover. One Congress doesn't determine the actions of the next. So they all react in a shortsided manner. For the record, more turnover and less kicking the can would be good for Congress but it works the exact opposite way. And here we are. | |
