We're obviously not in an area where double crop is really an option other than on irrigated ground so that may have something to do with it. If you think about it it would theoretically be possible for an "insurance farmer" to slop in a wheat crop-collect, and then slop in a Milo crop-collect, and then slop in another wheat crop without ever making an attempt at weed control or fertilization. I guess whether or not that is fraud is in the eye of the beholder. I think a few less reputable individuals actually used to get by on that kind of strategy alone until the insurance companies tightened the rules. | |
