Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | What you say about selling the 2015 crop for $4 per bushel until recently may be true but the fact is total commercial new crop short hedging as of 4/28 is just under 170,500 contracts which amounts to 852, 000, 000 bushel out of a 13,000 million bushel prospective crop. This amounts to 6.5 %. Approximately 93.5% of the new crop has not yet been priced. In contrast, in 2012 the number was 214,000-some or 1,070 million bushel.
Apparently most producers would rather take their chances with a lower price than settle for the current price. |
