| China can and is buying US corn but there are phyto risks. The same goes for US sorghum and ddgs as the Chinese government doesn't want feed grain imports. It's only a matter of time before they find a way to stop them a la MIR162. Sorghum of course is non-gmo but they've been tough on Johnson weed contamination and pesticide residue. So far most cargos are getting through but a few have been rejected. It's only going to get worse. That's why US exporters are selling the grain as is and making it the buyers responsibility to get the cargos into China. The Ukrainian corn deal was a government to government deal so there's little execution risk. | |
