I think I understand how it works, in spite of all the confusion coming from my broker and his boss. It works like this (like Moran advised): Once you take delivery you have, you still have long exposure to the board. You must sell the long exposure to re-issue the bushels. So the board position is still active, in other words, the spread was still on. Hopefully my statement tonight reflects the same.
