| A big crop followed by a temporary period of $3-4 something corn just isn't that much of a disaster, in my view. But then again, I remember doing a lot of work to raise $9 fat hogs once upon a time.
I'm going to plant a crop. And while there won't be any snake oil or bells & whistles, it will be agronomically sound including several semi loads of potash and DAP. This isn't the first time I have planted a crop with no guarantee of not losing money. I'm still here. I didn't upgrade planter tractors like I wanted to, going to run the paid for almost 7,000 hour one. I didn't buy a newer pickup this winter like I would love to have. I'm still living in a hundred year old house, and wrenching in an uninsulated shop that is way too small. I've got no sympathy for anybody who thinks commodity production agriculture is supposed to be a gravy train with no moments when you get hungry. |
