Floyd County, Iowa
My version of etiquette is all about the patches. Wife cooks it up for me, but won't eat it. As far as the bathroom, a flush as soon as you're done takes care of the odor.
Before I had my own patch up by the house, I had a patch in the mowed ditch in front of our house. Someone I knew was always raiding it after I had it clean of grass and weeds. I was irritated, so I drank a couple Bud Lights, waited a bit, then "watered" the patch really good a couple times. The stalks were about 6" tall. Hope he liked it. He quit raiding it when I got the word got out what I was doing.
Probably not a nice thing to do, but.........
