I always used to have a dry throat too, I would keep a glass of water on the bedstand and sip on it overnight when I woke up. Got the CPAP and don't need that anymore. I even quit using the humidifier on the machine.
Do yourself a favor and quit fighting it. Get the sleep study.
Being overweight is said to be a risk factor for apnea, but it's not a cause by itself. NFL receiver Percy Harvin has sleep apnea.
