| I don't know why that was not a very intelligent rebuttal. Odds are the family members who objected to eating GMO sweet corn were already eating processed foods made with GMO. They didn't realize that GMO corn was used to make that product, and they most likely thought it tasted fine, and had no effects from eating the product containing GMO corn. In my opinion, most - maybe even 98% - of the people who are opposed to eating GMO foods are opposed because someone told them they should be opposed, that GMO is supposed to be bad for you. Very, very few people actually do the research to find out the pros and cons of GMO, and whether it is - or is not - safe. So, this issue of not wanting GMO is an emotional issue, not one based on scientific fact. Yes, you need to listen to your consumer. But I think that poster was just pointing out that the family was already eating GMO, and those family members needed to be aware of that. |
