Yeah just do what WildBuckwheat said, the spec is 100m for a run, but I've gotten a lot more than that with no problems, more so if you use shielded cat 6, so you probably don't even need the switches, but leave room in case you do.


Problem is when you go beyond the spec, you are exactly that... Out of spec... So the problems can be intermittent and inconsistent. Total PITA to troubleshoot if you aren't aware you are out of spec on the wire. One MFG nic may work fine at 110m, another, might drop packets and only work once in a while... One might work at 100mb but not at 1000mb (1gb).... Higher speeds use more wires.

I would not go past the spec.
