OK...thanks for ideas thus far.
I right clicked & tried "Run as Administrator". Same deal. Little wheel spun, small rectangular sign came up & said "Opening QuickBooks", then in about 10 seconds it all went away.
I checked on icon bar...no QB open. I opened "Task Manager". Nothing indicating QB open there.
Click on icon to open program......then it doesn't
