Near-north Ontario, French River | Some of my buddies work for the local co-op, one runs the airflow while the other two run tender trucks in the spring. The coffee shop conversion brought up the issue of setting fertilizer spreader for customers. Seems that every blend that goes out has a different bulk density and none of the charts on the spreaders ever match up exactly when setting things up... usually one of those 'somewhere between 1 and 1.25 on the scale ' types things. The airflow guy works at the co-op full time and is very thorough, prior to spring he calibrates the scales on the spreader.. makes sure the scale indicator hasn't moved and is accurate in relation to the gap etc... he and the others are also particular about setting things up for the customers so ' close enough' isn't really their thing. I know in the grand scheme of things, most guys can't drive straight enough or at the right intervals, or don't know the EXACT acres of the field so getting things to work out exactly is almost a losing battle from the get-go but everyone wants to at least get the spreader set as accurately as possible to minimize any issues.... Soooo is there an app for something like this? Spreaders are almost all Willmars 8Ton,, there are a few 4 tons . Same spread width for all of them so a single app should work for all of them right?, Just looking for something that will give a gap setting for a given rate and given density. TIA |
