North Central IN | I've had an ad up on Craigslist trying to sell my calves. Get a text tonite about a guy wants to trade me 40 ryegrass bales for a almost year old calf (7-800# beef).
What is it worth? Is this a deal? How do you feed it? I think I have read that's it's nice feed if made wet and wrapped, but I don't have a wrapper, but maybe could find one. 4x5 round bales of decent net wrapped grass/alfalfa mix stored inside bring $40-60 'here'.
What happens if it's made dry? Is it good feed made in mid May? Not really greening up around here yet. I usually have to buy 50-100 round bales a year because my hay supply has been very variable--had two former landlords get in to the hay business after I planted the field and showed them how easy it was to make $$. Lol. But that's another post.
Is this trade NAT approved? Thanks!
