That's the thing about trying to select a calf to remain a bull at 10 months of age...you look at the animal, you look at his pedigree and just take a chance that he will develop. It would be nice if we could wait until nearer to 18 months...but I can't. The retained bull calf will most likely change a lot between now and turnout this summer. Hopefully for the better. But he has the pedigree and no major faults that I can see. Here's a recent pic of 82, the other (a half brother to 29) candidate I was considering to retain as a bull. Looks good but his pedigree is not as good and he is not registerable. He is a bit longer and also weighed over 950 lb at 10 months but he is out of a very large cow and would likely sire some cows that would be very large when mature. 82 would probably make some very good steers for Garvo but what I need right now is cow makers.
