Just off the side would be pretty good but I don't think you will be able to hold the planter there very easy, it will want to fall into the shank track. I wonder if you will have trouble with the center pivot getting stuck. When I deep ripped in fall and the next spring was wet the tractor would sink right to the bottom of the slot, and this was a track tractor.
