Subject: RE: drying corn with fans only

WC Indiana
I have got by with 1 cfm which would be around a 30 hp fan for 30,000. I have 4 48 foot 9 ring bins with one 40 hp fan. Bins hold 37,000 bushel flat. As has been mentioned don't go over 22 to 23 feet high.
I have low temp burners to basically just knock out humidity so fans can run 24 hr.
If you want to make these systems work great buy an Intelliair bin manager and let it monitor every layer and turn burners or fans on and off when needed. It texts you if you have a problem.
We just dump in the corn and fill the bins. Usually in a couple days. Our bins hold around 37,000 flat.
To minimize shoveling we fill the bin completely up peaked up. We then pull out 7 loads and then put back 2 without spreader. Everything is perfect on the sides then and one guy can level the 48 foot bin in a half a day.
