Subject: RE: Sandy Corn

Coldwater, Michigan
I would probably back off 5-10 days maturity on the light sands in this area compared to a bit heavier soils. The particualr farm I am thinking of is considered to be among the finest in the area by those who do not know the soil. However, w/o irrigation it is going to get hit with a dry patch of weather in mid-late July. Corn is often fired to ear high by 1st week in August. That was just wiping the fuller season hybrids out. The early season ones fair better on this farm. Plant early, plant early, plant early!!!!!!
