Central IL | Went to the badlands in Atica five years ago. Built on old strip mine. A couple of good sandy hills with various slopes. Trails throughout the slag/refuse piles. the wooded area trails were so deeply rutted out that it was impossible to ride ATV's in most of the areas unless you wanted to winch yourself out of them every time. Did not go back, it was not fun to spend all of your time battling the ruts. The hill climbs were fun but after going up and down 10 to 20 times it started to get boring. The trails on the slag piles were steep and narrow ( I enjoyed them but my spouse said never again after I had to walk back and get her atv off of a couple of them). It was worth going one time to experience it but I am too tight with my money to take the risk of damaging my atv's. We much prefer scenic trails with wildlife where we enjoy the trip. | |
