North End I-15 | That will not work . I'm a bit hearing imparied and was called for jury duty .
It was a child molestation case .
Friend when asked why he should be excused said " If that was my child the bastard molested , there would have been not have been a need for this trial"
He was excused .
The Editor of the local news papers said he was a good drinking buddy of the prosecuting attorney.
He was excused .
My turn , neither defence or prosecuting attorney had a question for me . I raised my hand , Judge said What ? "I have a hearing impairment " Judge said in a raised Voice ."CAN YOU HEAR ME ? "
Me : "Yes "
Judge , "Good , you sit here" indication the seat at the end of the jury box and next to the witness stand .
Was an interesting trial and a near hung jury . One older lady didn't want to vote for conviction . It took a long day to get her to agree .
At the reading of the verdict the defence attorney wanted to "poll the jury"
Each one of us had to stand up and verbally declare "Guilty"
Any thing less than 100% would have resulted in a hung jury .
It took hours of deliberation to get the lady to agree with the rest of us .
The Prosecuting attorney was worried it might go hung . He saved the two younger molested kids in the family for "just in case "
It was a sad case that affected children from ages 2 through 5 , all girls , all molested by a "favorite Uncle" | |
