Boone Co. Iowa | Not the way to do marketing, but one thought I was just thinking....
Last year, raised 215 bu/acre, worst sale was $3.40 (out of the field on my "overrun" bushels), so that translates to $731 / acre. Call that sale the 1.85 billion carryout sale....
To get that $731 / acre, if I grow close to aph of 175, I need $4.18 / bushel. Which is withing a nickel of what Dec15 corn is trading right now....
If we drought out and I grow 150 / acre, I need $4.87 to get that same $731. (close to Tara's $4.75 number)
I guess as I look at my math, I would say that the market is right where it wants to be. We could have a bullish report, but I doubt that we get a lot of movement until we start having weather issues and planting progress gets hurt....Be pretty lucky to get to $4.40 prior to March 1, I think.
I guess I think Sat and Tara have been right about quite a bit lately so I don't feel too much pressure to think that $4.15ish is going to be the high.
