Smell, lack of cooperation with medical personnel, inattention to his safety and comfort all add up, at least to me, as being unacceptable in every way. There have to be other facilities out there that do the necessary things to keep him comfortable and safe. May not be as close by or as low-cost, but he and his family deserve better than he's getting. You might visit with your pastor/minister/priest and get that viewpoint......most of those folks are in and out of nursing homes/care facilities on a very frequent basis and may have some insights the rest of you might miss. Good luck, I do feel badly for your f-i-l and those who are trying to do right by him.
