With a laptop you could try turning off fully, remove battery for a couple of minutes then reboot. 
It seems to do a more complete restart this way.
Sometimes there will be new drivers for the simplest things like mouse and keyboard which deal with issues introduced in routine updates.
You can get it to check in device manager, or better go to the makers website and see if there's a more recent driver pack you can download.
