Central Minnesota

Here is a robot shopper of daily deals. http://www.techbargains.com/

Cheap computers & chromebooks have cheap screens, dark, reflective and fuzz out when not looking straight on...

Spending more usually means a better screen -- but not always. Along with better internals.

Chromeboook is not a real computer -- it is a web browser that needs to be connected to the internet. Computer makers now sell Microsoft  Windows 8 cheap computers that compete with Google chromebook with prices under $200 to $300.

Tablets have bright IPS screens that might work for you if you do not communicate a lot via typing. Prices are all over the map spending more again gets better larger, higher resolution screens. Samsung Pro series 8.4" 10" 12" can match or beat the Apple Ipad. Uncle has a Surface Pro 3 a windows tablet with a keyboard that he uses for video chatting and everything else, he paid near $1000.

All surf the web.

Apple computers/pads/phones are easy to pick up & use but spendy. Samsung pads/phones/computers use Google android or windows for computers. Prices match or below Apple. Windows computers/pads/phones all use the windows operating system. Computers are universally accepted, pads & phones have far smaller market share. Microsoft is adding market share by making MS Office free on 7" android and Apple tablets, and low cost online versions for computers.

So, what to buy comes down to eyes & wallet. Under $300 wallet is happy, eye fatigue not so much, $500-$800+ eyes happy, wallet less so. Over $1000 now you are just showing off to surf the web  he... he... he...
