Subject: Is it frostbite?

Bardstown, Ky
I have a calf that I was able to save from the brutal temps we had about 2 weeks ago. This calf was actually about 6or7 days old when it got to -20. We had been watching it close because it just didn't quite the vigor you like to see. On the cold morning he was stretched out so we brought him to the shop and got him warm. While I was carrying him to the shop his mother decided to tear down the fence and come with me. We warmed him up and put him in the barn with momma and he didn't ever seem to want to walk. His front feet were turned back a bit and we have seen this often so we thought he would just grow out of it. We have made the calf get up and he would always go nurse and things seemed to be improving. I just went and got him up and noticed that the skin on his front feet is split open. I fear now the problem has been frostbite all along. Is there any treatment at this point or do I need to put the little guy out of his misery! :(
