KS | Jim are you planning this ahead of wheat? sunn hemp will compete/grow up in the Sudan. Also if the Sudan is not planted real thick it allows for the other crops to have access to the sunlight. Are you going to graze the coveR? I don't think the hemp is much for grazing but the Sudan and cowpea soy would be good grazing. Sunflowers would grow up tall enough to compete with the Sudan. Bird seed would be a good source for that to put in the mix. One thing to watch would be how mature these would get during the summer so that that they would not go to seed set. Soil moisture would begin to be depleted at that point and the risk of volunteer seed production could be a problem. | |
