I'll be treating my customers beans with a Pioneer inoculant that is good for 120 prior to planting. There is a bag and a bottle that I mix together. I'm told that the bag contains the live rhizobia and the bottle has a feed to keep them alive until they are in the soil. Seems to work well with an easy 1.5 bu. from about every test we've ever done. You're correct about it only being viable for a short time after the bag is opened though, especially the dry products. If I don't flush my treater after I finish a batch the next morning it will have skunked. A horribly vile smell with the consistency of soured milk.
