Subject: Data Ownership

West Central Minnesota
I am working on some data security stuff for my company, and this question has come up.

Who "owns" data that is collected by the company/coop that is applying fert/chem/lime etc on a farmers field?

Is it only the companies data? Is it only the farmers data? Or does it equally belong to both? I can see it being useful to the company that did the application by showing how accurate the machine/operator was, and for the farmer by tracking applications to yield and ROI.

What are your thoughts? Looking for farmers and dealers thoughts/ideas on this.

Thanks!
