Mercer County, Ohio on the Indiana line | Just a warning to you Indiana guys. At a meeting Wednesday they said that if you're piling the manure, it has to be diked with no water run off within 72 hours. So I'd spread it right away to keep IDEM happy.
I like chicken manure for its high concentration of N, P and K. It's also loaded with Micros. I plan to haul about 1 ton/ acre on a few acres this spring, loading the spreader half full to keep compaction down over my cereal rye cover crop. Layer manure has a higher calcium content than broiler or pullet manure would. Turkey manure would also have a lower Ca content but more Carbon with the bedding they use.
South bend is about 3 hours from me. Trucking would cost you, but I have quite a bit of manure to sell coming this fall. How much would you need/ yr? |
