Subject: RE: Planting corn after running soil finisher

Beresford, SD
When planting I'd love to have the field finisher at least 24 hrs. ahead of me (planter man). It does make for a very even emergence. However, if rain is one the horizon we slow the finisher down and try to get last worked field planted before the rain hits. I have planted (a week later after field dried off) into ground worked before a heavy rain.....Side wall compaction can be bad in our soils. Field finishing 24-36 hrs. ahead of planter is ideal but mother nature has final say.
