I know one organic grain farmer near here who is what I would call "successful". He ended up building his own flour mill (two employees) and hired a third person in New York City to peddle his flour in the Farm Markets there as well as get his flour into the high end food stores. It took real commitment and some serious money to carry the employees long enough to pay. Not every farmer has that kinds of resources available. |
