N.W. Illinois | You must be pricing the Toshiba Chromebook 2 with the full HD screen. That's a extra 100 bucks that is not necessary for school kids. I have the cheaper Toshiba Chromebook 2 and it is more then adequate. It cost around $229. I think it is a great value.
I really like the computer but like most laptops the touchpad is made for somebody other than me. Meaning someone younger. Easy solution for me was to buy a Logitech wireless mouse.

If you want to read about stupid, here's a article about the Los Angeles school board and their boondoggle in trying to buy over 700,000 ipads for their pupils. The total amount they budgeted was over 1.3 billion dollars.
