I think if we had todays oils back when Ford built the 460 and Chevy had the 350 they would run just as many miles as the newer ones. No doubt rust issues have improved due to sealing body seams and using galvanizing. Tranny's, the old stick shifts were pretty reliable too. The problem with the newer stuff, there is just a lot more to go wrong with them.
