Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I know having a farm with low bases acres is a downer but I would not want to reward farmers who plowed up pasture and grassland in the past 5 years to be rewarded either. Maybe payments should only be made on non highly erodible land? I don't know. The sod busting rules over the past 30 years have been stupid. Highly erodible land should not have been allowed to be tore out. Now, we have too many acres in production once again and you just wait, the government will reward those acres someday with a CRP check that is double to pasture rent. |
