So, for those of you on here that are farmers, are you going to buy up to 85% on your crop insurance to try to cover your input costs? With the talk of revenue per acre being less, and price being set lower than before, premiums will be done as well. Do you take that savings to the bank, and keep your current levels (if you aren't already at 85%), or do you increase your insurance coverage and try to minimize any losses that might come with a low price?

Dec 15 corn closed at what, $4.0075 today, after trading how many days straight in the red?
So, when trade opens on Monday, which is the first day for corn and bean price discovery in my area, we will be using that as a baseline or starting point. What is the likely hood that new crop corn trades higher in the month of Feb and brings that number up?

A 200 bu APH, at 85% coverage, guarantee's you 170 bushel an acre, or at $4, $680 an acre. For those that own their own ground, it shouldn't be a problem. But, throw in $250-$300 an acre rent in there, it doesn't leave much, if any, meat on the bone for the farmer. So, do you protect yourself or try to lower your input costs (one being crop insurance)?
