Boone Co. Iowa
I think that the biggest factor in acres of corn planted this year will be the weather. If we have perfect weather, and I am a farmer and I have all my corn planted and I have all those shiny new bins that got bought in the past 5 years, I might just go and call up seed dealer, tell em I need another 24/48/96 bags of whatever number you've got, and scrap the field of beans and plant corn. Guys just love to plant corn and if we have the weather and things are getting done early, I would bet that market prices will matter less than the weather. Maybe that is just "here" we seem to grow better corn than we do beans; SCN and other factors seem to limit our soybean yields.
