Subject: Tractor engine in a pickup?

Stoddard Co. SEMO
I have an '02 F350 7.3 powerstroke. If and when this engine ever calls it quits, could a tractor engine be put in its place? Maybe a Deere 404turbo/466 or an IH 414/436? I was told that these trucks are essentially a "drive by wire", and when I got rid of the electronic injection system, I could use the foot throttle out of a gas burner of the same year. Has anyone heard of this done? TIA
