North of London | Yes I probably do not make a lot of money but since I semi retired and do not have any livestock it is not bad for something to do in the slow time of the year.
I guess you could say it is a wee bit of a hobby for me but it pays all my expenses and leaves a little 'mad' money in my pocket.
The best paying job I had was from a mortgage company that repossessed a house in the 1980ies.
They called me to clear the snow so they could meet insurance and for access for someone to check on it.
They wanted to pay a flat rate and I have always charged by the work done.
So I was a little slow to quote him a price when he called me on the phone out of the blue and he knew I was hesitant about flat rate so he made me an offer.
What I was offered each month to start in November, and it was already mid November, through March was way more than I would expect to charge for much more than 1-2 months in a normal year so I said hesitantly OK.
That was the winter we had no snow and their cheque came in every month, the only income I had from snow removal that year.
That was pure profit. | |
